SJI has prepared its Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Policy with guidance provided by the top management. The General SHE policy Statement confirms the commitment of SJI to comply with applicable current legislation. The Policy also provides such information as is necessary to assist those persons using it to accomplish their requirements.
The SHE policy of SJI is to ensure the safety, health and environment of all its employees and all others who may be affected by its operations, by maintaining a safe place and system of work, insofar as it is reasonably practical to do so. It is the responsibility of all employees, together with Top Management, to ensure that our working environment is safe, without significant risks, and meets the appropriate statutory requirements. It is recognized that all levels of management and employees have a vital role in the implementation and maintenance of our SHE program.
It is our policy to reduce accidents, injuries and work-related ill health to the lowest level practicable. Where hazards exist we will evaluate, control, and bring these to the attention of our employees. All persons are to ensure that appropriate safety rules are followed.
All our employees will be given adequate information and training as is necessary to ensure their safety during routine, unscheduled and emergency situations, together with the appropriate facilities and equipments. In order to identify significant hazards and plan for their elimination, reduction and control, management will undertake risk assessments, audits and general inspections at regular intervals.
Our policy will be reviewed annually or when appropriate and any changes will be brought to the attention of all employees.
